WIM/WSX Annual Prizegiving and Urban Score Event

Results for today's Wimborne Urban Score event are available on the Wimborne website.

The event which saw 41 runners enjoy the delights of Wimborne Town was held before the Wimborne Orienteers​ and Wessex Orienteersing Club prize giving ceremonies.

Well done to all the winners but most importantly a big thank you to Chris and Lynn Branford for planning and organising a great social event.

Founders Trophy (ably organised by John Shucksmith at this year’s November Classic)

34 club members entered classes that qualified them for the Founders Trophy. It was the year of the juniors for the first time ever in this competition with Grace French winning convincingly with a score of 5.0 followed by Harry Bratcher-Howard with 5.3 and Brian Johnson with 5.9

Club League (this year we had 12 counting events during the year - thanks to the hard work of Mike Kite). The best 6 results counted for the League. Overall 71 club members took part in the League over the year – exactly the same as last year)

Men – Steve Horsler triumphed with 533 points over Brian Johnson 2nd - 467 and Roger Hills 3rd - 451

Women – Sue Hands again gained a perfect score of 100 in every counting event to win on 600 points with Wendy Bullen 2nd 538 and Kirsty Staunton 3rd 481

Juniors – Harry Bratcher-Howard easily won the Boy’s Trophy on 572 points with Monty Howard-Bratcher 2nd on 444 points but for the girls it was a last minute Horsler family fight to the death with Elizabeth Horsler on 560 points and Grace French 2nd on 537 points and Sarah Horsler 3rd on 494 points.

Summer League Non Handicap (this year there were 9 races with 6 best scores to count and we thank Simon Branford for his organisation of the results). A total of 256 competitors took part in the 9 events)

Men – Dale Paget (WSX) won with a perfect score of 600 points closely followed by James Crickmore (WSX) on 576 points and John Oakes (WIM) on 530 points

Women – Wendy Bullen (WIM) won with 477 points followed by Kath Pike (WIM) on 429 points and Sheila Gold (WSX) on 399 points

Juniors – Harry Bratcher-Howard won with 481 points with Lyra Medlock (WSX) 2nd with 350 points and Andrew Page (QO) 3rd with 300 points

Summer League – Handicap (No trophies)

Men – Dale Paget (WSX) won with 593 points closely followed by John Oakes (WIM) on 495 points and John Cook (WSX) 484 points.

Women – Wendy Bullen (WIM) won with 526 points followed by Kath Pike (WIM) on 445 points and Sheila Gold (WSX) on 432 points

Juniors – Harry Bratcher-Howard won with 544 points with Lyra Medlock (WSX) 2nd with 410 points and Andrew Page (QO) 3rd with 289 points

Furrow Hoppers Trophy

BOK Raiders narrowly beat WSX Raiders by 31 seconds to win the Furrow Hoppers Plate.

In the Junior Competition Grace French and Lyra Medlock were the winners.
